Hello class,
Gleeson (2017) indicated that leaders must lean on the values of the organization to drive performance, especially during times of change. An organization's values should be the bedrock of why the company exists, how it makes decisions and its true purpose. They must be authentic and relatively specific so they actually resonate with the team. Once an organization's values are clearly defined, they should also be the guiding light for how performance is evaluated – at the team and individual level. Grojean et al. (2004) in Nicotera and Cushman (1992, p. 440. Noted that an organization's ethical values are routed in that organization's value system, and an action can be judged as ethical if it upholds the value system of that organization. charismatic leadership approaches will help to increase the acceptance of the organization's ethical values leading to greater congruence of values between the followers' and the organization.
Martic (n.d.) argued that business communications are ways leaders in an organizations share information between employees within and outside a company. She found out that a constant business communication is the way employees and management of any organization interact with each other in order achieve organizational goals and for that organization to be more aligned with the core company values. The reason for this is to improve organizational practices, eliminate silos, keep employees informed and reduce errors. Persistence business communication is needed for the success and growth of every company. Unlike everyday communications, business communication is always goal-oriented.
Auxier (2015) indicated that Business leaders take their time to reflect upon their worldview and as such, it is the starts of their philosophical foundations of leadership and believes every leader must give meaning to various situations to avoid vagueness and to encourage organizational members to behave themselves in way that will lead to outcome that shows the organization’s best interest and the leadership must be able to develop a process that would involve transforming organizational values and culture.

Hello Class,
According to Daft (2021), Values-based leadership involves the idea of leaders being true to their unique values and accounting for others' values as well while guiding the organization toward these. Communicating this is critical as a component of creating an organizational foundation of culture and ethics is communicating those to anyone who may be joining the team or wanting to become a stakeholder, internally or externally. This also is nearly a necessity in modern culture as access to organizations has become greater, and individuals outside the organization have an expectation that the organization will communicate to them in some way.
With the high level of access to organizations, consumers want more than a company that makes a great product, they want a product that stands for things they believe in; look at companies like Tom's. A mission or cause leads in propels organizations. To answer the question directly, values-based leadership has a huge impact, it is now one of the critical features of an organization. This must also be clearly communicated, and the leaders of the organizations must be the ones that commit to this communication. According to Hester (2019), leaders and organizations are morally obligated to commit and communicate their values as part of being in the community as a whole. Seemingly this is becoming the standard as individuals want to know where companies stand on the issues and whether or not to support that business.

Dr. G. and Classmates,
Values are unwritten expectations present in many successful organizations. With that in mind, values based leadership does contribute positively to the culture of an organization. Albu (2018) cites that values shape staff behavior and action by creating intrinsically shared loyalties among organizational members. Understanding that values are impactful, it is important for leaders to take responsibility for making sure that values are present in their organizations. As Maak & Pless (2006) notes, organizations are expected to fulfill values and managers are frequently encouraged to ‘walk their talk’. This prompts the question, what does values-based leadership look like in an organization? Zydziunaite (2018) states that by focusing on what people believe and value, and then positively building on this understanding, leaders have the potential for impact far more wide reaching. Considering this research, leadership staff should start all hiring articulating the expectation, and staff would be fully cognizant of what they would be ‘getting themselves into’- ultimately the buy-in would be present from the start. In support of the need to communicate, Daft (2018) states that managers should shape behavior by envisioning and communicating a desired future state for the organization. Conversely, Albu (2018) noted that as a result of values being interrupted in various ways, they can also be contradictory. Albu (2018) supports this by stating that because values express themselves in different ways in ongoing interactions, they frequently lead to contradictions in the enactment of actual situations, which produces the experience of disorder and struggles among organizational members. To this point, there is balance to be achieved, while also understanding that value based leadership can positively impact the culture of an organization. Have a great week everyone!
