Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an economic, environmental, and financial reporting methodology used by organizations to justify accountability for sustainable business practices (Waheed & Yang, 2019). This methodology is highly publicized by an organization and stakeholders seek to comprehend all aspects of an organization’s CSR practices to determine the level of their own involvement with that organization. Just as a potential employee researches a company before applying for a job, a potential stakeholder engages the reporting metrics of CSR to understand the full picture of what they may be getting into.
CSR practices are beneficial to the stakeholder as they use an organization’s reporting practices to make important investment decisions (Zaid et al., 2020). Decision-making for the stakeholder does not stop at first inclusion and continues throughout the life of the relationship with the organization. Because of this, stakeholders carry some control over how organizations conduct business. CSR practices enable a first-hand look at how an organization functions and those that are closed to stakeholder opinions do not benefit. CSR enables shareholders to be involved and allows them to focus their efforts to assist in creating overall organizational value (Zaid et al., 2020).

Stakeholders can determine which information source on organizational effectiveness is reliable based on the established practices of a firm. Stakeholders can analyze a firm's reputation to assess its practices and beliefs. They can evaluate if a firm approach is socially responsible and how well they work in collaboration with others or build systems of mutual trust (Kumar et al., 2016). More importantly, stakeholders can examine how well a firm engages multi-level stakeholders or those who do not support its objectives; these factors are entangled in their culture, which says a lot about what they practice and believe (Kangas, 2011).
This knowledge can help stakeholders measure the firm's engagement practices from multiple perspectives. Organizational effectiveness requires stakeholders to have a keen understanding of product goals and business practices; furthermore, stakeholders need to have appropriate communication skills (verbal and written) to maximize efficiency and reduce inefficacy (Razali & Anwar, 2011). Stakeholders can also consider whether a firm is socially responsible, the capacity of their community response efforts or environmental practices and whether they offer buy-in and ownership programs for stakeholders (Kangas, 2011). Organizational effectiveness is achieved when firms are consistently transparent about their objectives and stakeholders actively engage in business processes.

Stakeholders must be receptive to receiving and processing information. Once information is obtained stakeholders should have the opportunity to review it and address any inquiries. Following up helps to make sure that all organizational stakeholders are clear and understand practices.
