Before implementing any change, effective leaders take the time to carefully consider exactly what types of change are necessary to bring about the desired end. You should identify those areas where change would be most beneficial, as well as any potential obstacles. When combined with an understanding of the system that you hope to influence, these are all critical steps and each increases the likelihood that meaningful and long-lasting changes can transpire.
Based on your readings in Wiseman (2017), respond to the following and be sure to note the relationship to your Capstone Project and include relevant examples from your life’s

Thank you for sharing your informative concepts regarding the diminisher and multiplier behaviors (Wiseman, 2017) we are discussing this week. I truly resonated with your comment below from your concluding paragraph:
By creating possibilities, posing a challenge that pushes an organization, and inspiring confidence that it can be done, multipliers act as challengers. Doing this encourages both themselves and others to go beyond their comfort zones. On the other hand, Diminishers behave as Know-It-Alls, directly delivering instructions to demonstrate their knowledge. Multipliers ensure that direction is set while Diminishers establish the order (Wiseman, 2017 as cited in Westbrook, 2022). The three practices of the challenger motivate me to become an effective leader by ensuring my employees are exposed to more possibilities and receive positive challenges while I inspire their confidence. (Westbrook, 2022)
As we both know, a liberator is the opposite of a tyrant. According to Wiseman (2017), a tyrant is typically focused on themselves and leads from a place of selfishness, creating a toxic work environment that overpowers people's thinking and capability. Thus, people may hold back, suggesting secure ideas that the leader agrees with, and work cautiously. However, liberators are servant leaders and support their followers, creating an intense atmosphere focused on growth and development by enabling others to offer their best and boldest thinking.

RE: Discussion 2 – Week 2
“The tyrant versus the liberator and the know-it-all versus the challenger”
Describe the leadership differences between a tyrant and a liberator, and describe how I would include the three practices of the liberator in my professional life and career:
Liberator leaders focus on their people’s development, growth, and success for the whole team. In addition, liberators are servant leaders. On the contrary, tyrants tend to focus on themselves by leading from a place of selfishness. Tyrants are micro-managers who suffocate their people. But liberators cast a vision and give their teams enough latitude to get things done. It is interesting to note that tyrants create a tense environment that suppresses people’s thinking. As a result, this makes people hold back by only bringing up safe ideas that the leader likes. Liberators create an intense environment that requires and encourages people’s best thinking to come forward. As a result, this motivates people to offer their best thinking and even give their best effort (Wiseman, L., 2021). I would include the three practices of the liberator in my professional life and career by creating space to release the youth under my care while also restraining myself so that they get more mature. In other words, I will choose to listen more. Secondly, I will expect the best from the youth by defending moral standards in my work practices as a youth mentor. I will focus on being a good mentor. I will generate a rapid learning cycle. I will show the youth that I will be open to learning what I do not know (Connor, T., 2019).
Describe how challengers versus know-it-alls have a full range of motion, and show how the three practices of the challenger affect my professional choice:
The know-it-alls tend to give directives that highlight how much they know. As a result, they tend to limit what their organization can achieve to what they know how to do. On the other hand, challengers seed opportunities, lay down a challenge, and then generate the belief in what is possible. They also challenge assumptions and let others fill in the blanks by making their plans concrete to orchestrate an early win (Bokade, R., 2021). The three practices of the challenger will affect my professional choice because they will propel me to sow a seed, challenge assumptions, and reframe problems. This first step can sometimes put me at odds with my workplace environment. Secondly, I will feel obligated to ask thought-provoking questions. Then I will let others fill in the blanks. This can affect my professional life because my colleagues might feel intimidated when I am asking such challenging questions. As a result, it would force me to be vulnerable. Finally, when I co-create a plan and orchestrate an early win, it might make me think that I own the whole plan. I will even think that I am bound to win because I know how to orchestrate an early win (Bokade, R., 2021).
How would I include the three practices of the liberator in my professional life/career? Describe how challengers versus know-it-alls have a full range of motion:
I would include the three practices of the liberator in my professional life and career by creating space to release others, while I choose to restrain myself by listening more. As a challenger, I would seed visions that would challenge certain limitations. Therefore, my gifts as a challenger would help to bring clarity, precision, and direction to the vision. Then I would demand the best work by defending this same standard in my work practices. That is why I would choose to be a good example. Then I would generate a rapid learning cycle by reflecting through my example that I can be open to learning what I do not know (Connor, 2019). The challengers, as opposed to the know-it-alls, have a full range of motion because the know-it-alls give directives that highlight how much they know. As a result, they limit what their organization can achieve as opposed to what they know how to do. The organization then uses this energy to deduce what the boss might be thinking. On the other hand, challengers seed opportunities, lay down a challenge, and generate belief in what is possible. That is why they articulate big by challenging assumptions, letting others fill in the blanks, and then making the plan concrete to orchestrate an early win (Bokade, 2021).
How do the three practices of the challenger affect my professional choice?
The three practices of the challenger will affect my professional choice because these practices will propel me to sow a seed, challenge assumptions, and reframe problems. By sowing a seed, I will be influencing my workplace to be better. Then I will feel obliged to ask thought-provoking questions. But I will let others fill in the blanks. This action can have a profound impact on my professional life because my workplace environment will feel motivated to answer my thought-provoking questions. Finally, when I orchestrate an early win, it might affect my professional life in a complicated way because it might tempt me to think that I produced the whole plan. Then I might think that I am bound to win because I knew how to orchestrate an early win (Bokade, 2021).
