PICOT-D Question Submission – Rubric
POPULATION: Good 4.6 points/5 A description of population being assessed is complete and includes a direct link to practice improvements that can be measured through patient and practice outcomes.
Criteria Comments: The ASQ states that it should be used for patients 8 years to 18. I see you have stated just adolescents. What is the reason for that?
INTERVENTION: Good 4.6 points/5
A description of the intervention is complete and includes a sufficient amount of evidence and is supported by literature.
Criteria Comments: If your tool is more than 5 years old, you need to name current researchers using this tool within the last 5 years. (Whose research or Clinical Practice Guideline says to implement this to use ASQ as a positive way to get referrals to mental health?) You have to name that research such as: The purpose of this quantitative quasi-experimental quality improvement project is to determine if or to what degree the implementation of Ali and Kronsberg’s research using the ASQ tool…….
Example:
· If it is research, state: Translation: ie: In obese adults in a primary care clinic does the translation of Kronsberg’s research on the Lose Weight Fast Diet impact BMI compared to current practice over 8 weeks?
· If it is a Clinical Practice Guideline, state: ie: In obese adults in a primary care clinic does the Wilford Diabetic Association’s Lower Your A1c Guideline impact A1c levels compared to current practice over 12 weeks?
COMPARISON: Satisfactory 4.4 points/5
A description of the comparison information is included but lacks evidence and measurable outcomes.
Criteria Comments: The C from the PICOT must be written out. State compared to current practice.
OUTCOME: Excellent 5 points/5
A description of the outcome is extremely thorough with substantial evidence.
Criteria Comments: No comments.
TIMELINE: Excellent 5 points/5
RATIONALE: Excellent 7.5 points/7.5
ORIGINAL RESEARCH: Satisfactory 4.4 points/5
Criteria Comments: The Aguinaldo article cannot be reached using the doi. It is asking that we purchase the article. You must submit the permalink to the article for it to be reviewed. The 1st Horowitz article is not a study; it is just a written paper. The articles must be original research studies. The 2nd Horowitz article is the same as the first. The Inman article is a pilot program that cannot be used to support your PICOT. The Milliman article's doi does not lead me to that specific article. After I found the correct article, it was a literature search, not an original study.
MECHANICS OF WRITING : Excellent 2.5 points/2.5
DOCUMENTATION OF SOURCES: Good 4.6 points/5
Sources are documented, as appropriate to assignment and style, and format is mostly correct.
Criteria Comments: The links do not always lead to the full article as is required.
