1. You must address all 10 outcomes ( the 5 that you selected to work on in the practicum those artifacts will come from the work that you will be doing in practicum (this will require the most work) AND for the other 5 that you are NOT selecting to work on in the practicum those artifacts will be coming from your past coursework (this should not be as involved as some of you already have artifacts uploaded-just make some decisions now on what goes and what stays…remember MASTERY.)
2. You must ensure that your artifacts demonstrate mastery of outcomes. In speaking specifically of the outcomes that you have selected for the practicum you will need to ensure that you provide specific details to ensure that when evaluating these outcomes that it makes perfect sense what you've done, why you did it and how you did it!
ALSO, ensure that the activities that you are outlining for the 5 outcomes that you will be focusing on in the practicum are your own creation (can be with the assistance of your site supervisor). So, in otherwords don't do something that the school is already doing, don't do something that falls within your role and duty already as a teacher at the site…this should be a "NEW" undertaking…something that you are adding on to something else or something that you are creating from scratch!
3. You must have at least 4 artifacts in each outcome area but keep in mind that 4 is just a minimum, especially when looking at the outcomes that you have NOT decided to focus on. The ones that you ARE focusing on it depends on the quality of artifacts provided! Many students have taken a large volume of courses so you should have a wealth of artifacts at your finger tips to satisfy the outcomes that you have not selected to focus on in the practicum.
4. Include an introduction to each outcome. The introduction can be anywhere from a half page to full page or a paragraph. The introduction should speak to the artifacts you've included within each outcome. Hint: Read your discussion response each week…there's a great chance you've already done this! You response more than likely describes the artifacts selected as well as why you selected them so more than half the work is done. You may just need to fine tune. We will discuss this during our large group call. This is just a heads up.
For the outcomes that you have selected to focus on in the practicum even here I am sure that many will go above and beyond and exceed that minimum to fully address the outcome. Try looking at these outcomes as needing a minimum of 4 activities in each outcome area. Those activities will include numerous artifacts as they come together to truly define the activities. Remember that there may be smaller artifacts needed that come together under one objective/activity to fully address the questions above. For some of these having only one piece of evidence for that artifact may not suffice because the evaluator or reader may not be able to make full sense of what the artifact means or its relevance. For example and this is MY example: if I have selected the outcome dealing with a positive learning environment, my artifacts may be:
INTRODUCTION TO OUTCOME #3- THIS IS WHERE I WOULD TALK ABOUT THE ARTIFACTS AND PRESENT A RATIONALE FOR WHY I SELECTED THESE ARTIFACTS (THIS SHOULD BE ON A SEPERATE SHEET)
———————————————————————————————————————
OUTCOME # 3- THIS IS WHERE I WOULD WRITE THE DESCRIPTION.
Artifact 1- Room Arrangement
1a. before and after pictures
1b. observation analysis (observed before any changes)
1c. behavior tracking (chart to show how behavior improved after the room was rearranged)
Artifact 2- PLC on Strategies for Learning Environments
2a. Roster of the teachers that will be participating in the PLC
2b. Copy of my plan for the PLC
2c. Copies or list of resources I will draw from for the PLC
2d. Created and distributed teacher questionnaire after the PLC
23. Reflection on what I learned.
Artifact 3- Conferencing
3a. Site supervisor meeting to discuss learning environments throughout the school- summary or minutes of that discussion
3b. Interview with Mrs. Jones- Write up on our interview and my takeaways on what makes her learning environment so successful.
Artifact 4- ???
4a. ??
4b. ??
4c. ??
Here you can see how having 4 artifacts for this outcome would prove to be okay because there are components within the artivity that come together to really paint a nice picture of what was done. You can also see here that perhaps 1-2 of these artifacts or tasks was very involved, whereas the others were not as intensive, so you can maintain a good balance. Even with such an outline, I've had students go above and add more artifacts!! At the end of this ensure that what you are presenting is a good reflection of the work you've done during this time.

Clinical Practice Portfolio Proposal Template
This proposal will help you make the most of what you learn from your clinical practice experience. In composing your proposal, consider the areas where you believe growth is needed.
Your first step is to complete sections 1 and 2, with guidance from your site supervisor. Once you complete these sections, you will discuss your proposal with your fellow learners and revise it according to their feedback and suggestions (Unit 2).
Then you will submit your proposal to your instructor at least 48 hours prior to your conference call so your instructor can evaluate your choices and make recommendations for changes. You will then meet with your professional practicum committee to get approval for the specialization outcomes and activities that you have selected (Unit 3).
You will complete sections 3 and 4 in Unit 9 to explain how your clinical practice activities demonstrate mastery of the chosen specialization outcomes.
Once you have completed your 45 hours of clinical practice experience, you will submit your final portfolio to your Capella Instructor. In the portfolio, you will assess the degree of proficiency you have attained for each specialization outcome.
Section 1: Goals
Based on your self-assessment of specialization outcomes in the second discussion of Unit 1 using the portfolio rubric and the current state of your portfolio, identify the specialization outcome areas that you plan to further develop during your practicum. Select at least five of Capella’s 10 Early Childhood Education Specialization Outcomes.
Step 1: Select the five or more specialization outcomes that will become the basis of your practicum and paste them below Step 2 in Section 2. Then, proceed to follow the directions in Section 2: Tasks and Responsibilities.
Specialization Outcome 1—Child Development and Well-being: Understand the stages of child development and how children learn.
Specialization Outcome 2—Learning Environment: Create learning environments that support and nurture the development, learning, and self-esteem of all children.
Specialization Outcome 3—Curriculum and Instruction: Design developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction that encourage individual as well as group learning, skill development, reflection, critical thinking, and inquiry.
Specialization Outcome 4—Equity and Inclusion: Provide equitable, inclusive education in which each student has the opportunity and encouragement to reach his or her potential.

Specialization Outcome 9—Reflection and Continuous Learning: Engage in continued professional growth.
Specialization Outcome 10—Theory and Research: Apply critical knowledge of current research and theory to the improvement of instructional and leadership practices.
Section 2: Tasks and Responsibilities
Identify two or three tasks or activities that will help you acquire or develop each of the specialization outcomes on which you will be focusing. To help you identify appropriate administrative tasks or activities, that is, to assist you in selecting tasks that truly demonstrate your proficiency in the specialization outcomes you have identified, you are encouraged to discuss the tasks or activities you plan to address with your site supervisor, faculty, or your classmates. Ask them for ideas about tasks or responsibilities that are related to the specialization outcomes you will be addressing in this proposal.
Step 2: For each of the five or more specialization outcomes listed below, identify and describe the two or three tasks or activities you will complete during your internship to demonstrate your proficiency in that specialization outcome area.

You will complete sections 3 and 4 in Unit 9 to explain how your clinical practice activities demonstrate mastery of the chosen specialization outcomes.
Describe the activities, artifacts, or behaviors that demonstrate how you accomplished your tasks outlined above. The definitions or descriptions should also indicate the degree to which you mastered the specialization outcome.
