Chapters 9-16  

Within Chapters 9-12 you have drugs that some consider hard core with the exception of Chapter 10.  

– What considerations do you find critical in that of a practicing addictions counselor that will be needed and addressed in dealing with some of the critical care issues as a result of using cocaine, opiates and hallucinogens?  

– What are some counseling care considerations of clients?

– What are some of the effects, and complications that go beyond above normal use? 

– Do counseling interventions work and why?  

– Provide one specific intervention that as a practicing counselor finds valid as a must within the care taking process? 

– What are your thoughts related to marijuana being seen as more of a social drug? 

– What are your thoughts behind medical marijuana and counseling those who use the concept as a method to validate their chronic use and notion of non-harmful effects? 

– Chapters 13-16 deal with another class of drugs. What are some similar and different comparisons among the two groups of drugs? 

– Again how do care professionals continue to address harmful issues related to this group of drugs when they can easily be bought from any convenience, pharmacy or grocery store?
