1. How long have you worked for this nonprofit? How has it changed your life? How can a person get involved in nonprofits above the volunteer level?
Since the year 2019. Changed my life for the better
The truth is that non-profit organizations are witnessing a state of rapid and significant development and growth, and today they play an influential and vital role in community development, which stimulates human competencies and capabilities to provide the best they have through professional paths in organizations with constant concern for professional and personal development and the understanding of goals and visions for this sector.
I have been working for more than twenty years.
Certainly, it changed my life for the better for several reasons: 1- Desire to be paid and rewarded sincerely for the sake of God Almighty 2- Working for human development 3- To make both the custodian and the cuddly happy (the happiness of the custodial family and the cuddled child)

2. How flexible can a non-profit be with their budget?
In general, nonprofits are fairly flexible. I see that budget commitment is a requirement, especially with regard to operating expenses.
There is an annual budget appropriation from the Board of Directors, and in the event there is any change in the budget, the Executive Management of the Board will raise this report by vote.
3. What is your organization’s mission/vision and how has that shaped your management practices?
Our vision is leadership in addressing the issues of orphans of unknown parents, and when we say leadership, we mean that all our practices are characterized by precedence, innovation, impact and high quality.
Al-Wedad Association for Orphans Care works in the case of parents of unknown parents under the age of two years, and it has a clear vision, which is the leadership in addressing the issue of unknown parents, which includes awareness programs before the birth of the child and radical solutions to the issue in addition to the qualitative solutions provided by the association after the birth of the child, through the value it works on The Foundation has the right of every orphan child to be nurtured and nurtured by a family.
4. How does your team measure their impact? What tools are used for investigating and what are your metrics?
Our measurement is based on the Balanced Scorecard, which has 18 strategic objectives measured by 39 performance indicators.
We have a specialized unit whose preoccupation is to achieve development and quality in the performance of various departments according to those performance indicators.
We at Al-Wydad Association have performance indicators and strategic goals, where for each strategic goal there are performance indicators. Through the Board of Directors, the annual performance indicators are approved and followed up on a quarterly basis to correct and comment on them to ensure the highest quality of performance.
5. How do you get feedback from your volunteers? Surveys? And if so, what kinds of questions do you use?
By providing the opportunity for volunteers to provide their opinions and observations about the work they have submitted through the electronic portal
We have a special department for volunteers that works in accordance with the 2030 vision launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by reaching one million volunteers.
6. President/CEO: What is your financial fundraising strategy and why did you opt for that?
Impact, we work to convince people of the importance of our cause and support it by highlighting the great impact that can be achieved for the life of an orphan child without parental care if he receives attention and support and becomes a foster family.
We work in Wedad Association through a plan for financial sustainability, where we want to achieve 100 million Saudi riyals in 2030 through endowments and investments to achieve a sustainable return on the expenses of the association, and an investment committee has been established specialized in achieving this vision emanating from the Board of Directors
7. Does the organization’s strategy resonate with your vision and what you care about?
Of course
Certainly, before the launch of the organization’s strategy, the strategy went through many stages, from appointing a consultant specialized in strategy and forming groups of employees. The employees started in brainstorming workshops with the members of the board of directors, and after many workshops, we reached the organized strategy and launched our new strategy from 2022 to 2025 to work together on Achieving strategic goals to ensure a qualitative leap for the organization
8. Have you seen changing community needs throughout the years? What are these and how have you adapted to them?
We are witnessing a demand from society for easy and digital needs, and we keep pace with this by harnessing modern technologies in our work, whether at the level of progression path for incubation, donations or internal business management.
In the case of children of unknown parents, yes, we noticed the changes in society in terms of an increase in families’ desire to be incubated, and we now have more than 3000 families on the waiting list. Certainly, we are dealing with an increase in the number of families applying for incubation to raise standards for incubating children, where we are very keen to be incubated Children with qualified families to ensure the rights and safety of the child.
9. How do you weigh using limited resources to build your capacity like staffing or programming investments vs. using them to invest in monitoring and evaluation?
There is no doubt that monitoring and evaluation is of paramount importance in verifying the completion and evaluation of the construction process, and collection and budgeting is required and changes according to circumstances.
Through a strategic plan, where we recently launched a strategic plan for Wedad, starting and ending in 2025, focusing on four main axes, which are the customers axis, the operations axis, the financial sustainability axis, and the work environment axis to focus on balanced performance in the organization. This plan makes us ready to address any performance gap in the plan as well as to motivate Employees when achieving successes and achievements and finally help us to have our work in the language of numbers.
10. Do you advise a non-profit to take loan from the bank as startup capital?
Self-reliance is always the best option, but nonprofits may have to borrow.
I certainly do not recommend taking a loan at the beginning of the organization because the non-profit organization is part of the community. We only have to explain to the community what the importance of the organization is in the community. We will find the community donating, especially in the community of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where everyone is keen on the good in the case of thinking about taking a loan possible, but who In order to build opportunities for the financial sustainability of the association, and certainly not at the beginning of the association’s life.
11. What are the best practices to track performance of the board, project managers and other staff?

13. What do you see as the role and value of the board in your success as an Executive Director? Can you offer me a few examples?
Care, follow-up, quality, accuracy and high energy.

14. How do you get the people you serve involved in program design and planning?

16. What has been the hardest decision you have had to make as a CEO/board director and how has that affected the trajectory of your nonprofit?
The most difficult decision is to raise the standards of incubation, because we apply an important value, which is the interest of the orphan child first. We have faced a lot of criticism and many believe that we are exaggerating the complexity of handing over a child, but after our experience that spanned more than 12 years, we have achieved the completion of the delivery of 750 children and children to foster families without return No child of the association.
17. Board Chair: What is it about this organization that made you want to be associated with it?

Certainly, my work in the organization has brought me back with great experiences in charitable work, especially the issue of orphaned children, where we work daily to face the great challenges facing us and with the members of the Board of Directors and the executive management, and in our strategic partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, we are working to find radical solutions to the problems for this organization has brought me back a lot of experiences and expertise.
19. How do you see your organization changing in the coming years, and how do you see yourself and your staffs creating that change?
Certainly, we work on two aspects of sustainability, namely the organizational sustainability and financial sustainability, and we are currently working on plans to transfer the board to new members to ensure the organization’s sustainability with its high standards in the event of a change of board members.
