In this assignment, you will develop a treatment plan. Treatment planning enables you to have a roadmap for your work with a family. A roadmap is imperative when faced with the challenges families bring to therapy. As the counselor, you are the one holding the map that leads the family towards their goals.
Read Chapter 7 in your textbook by Gehart.
Develop a treatment plan using Structural Family Theory for the family you choose to complete Milestone 1 and the case conceptualization that you wrote in Milestone 2.
The family that was chosen was Abraham and Sarah out of the Bible
The Bible entails that Abraham was experiencing the joy and pain of living in faith. Sarah conceived Isaac to fulfill God’s promise (Sonek, 2019). However, the birth of Isaac served as a threat for Ishmael, Abraham’s and Hagar’s son, for a significant period, was perceived as an heir and a hope for his father’s dreams. However, he is set aside in favor of Isaac, the newcomer. The tension in Abraham’s family begins to progress and climaxes when Ishmael Isaac and Sarah pronounce an ultimatum. This ultimatum was dictating Abraham to kick off Hagar and her son Ishmael. This ultimatum tends to plunge Abraham from the joyful heights to the depths of severe grief for the love of his son. Abraham was facing the most difficult decision in life. For instance, he was concerned with the dilemma of whether to make his wife face life’s reality and learn to live with Hagar and Ishmael or consent to Sarah’s request that was founded on jealousy and send Ishmael and his mother away.
