Module 1 Discussion
1) Change is an extremely personal experience. Every employee must think, feel, or act differently in order for change to happen in any organization. Leaders must attract their followers one by one, even in enormous businesses that rely on thousands of people recognizing strategic planning well enough to convert them into suitable actions (Missimer, & Mesquita, 2022). Imagine a group of 1,000 people going through conversion experiences and arriving to a preset location at around the same time. It's no surprise that business change is a challenging and uncomfortable topic on almost everyone's radar. I have been through a firm's reorganization. The business model of the company was altered, which resulted in modifications in organizational architecture. As a result, the organizational structure was altered, and the utilization of organizational resources was better planned. The resources of the organization were divided according to the changes in the organization's structure, and the resources were assigned to different business operations (Missimer, & Mesquita, 2022). I believe that managers equate organization design with structure because if they are not fully organized as a whole, they will not be successful structurally. The different components of an organization's system, such as its processes, structure, and resources, are combined in organizational design (Sharma, Agrawal, & Khandelwal, 2019). Organizational structure is a set of responsibilities and power, which managers conflate with organizational design. Organizational design encompasses more elements than organizational structure, such as the flow of processes and systems inside the organization, in addition to its personnel. People make up the majority of an organization's structure, whereas processes and people make up the majority of an organization's design (Missimer, & Mesquita, 2022).
2) So, from its early roots as an online bookstore, Amazon has grown into a tech behemoth that sells everything from electronics to movies, music, apparel, groceries, and even houses. However, the brand's number and quality of product aren't the only perspectives through which we can see its progress. One of Amazon's most well-known innovative products was its logo redesigns. The company's logo had a huge impact on the brand's overall success (Sharma et al., 2019). Amazon’s first logo was the literal interpretation of the company’s name: a blue background and the letter “A” with a shape of a river inside, plus a caption that showed the ambitious goals of the company declaring the brand “Earth’s biggest bookstore” (Missimer, & Mesquita, 2022). The Amazon smile is now as well-known as the company's logo or the background of its logo redesigns. And this is a great example of why every brand should have an adaptable logo that can be used in a variety of marketing scenarios (Missimer, & Mesquita, 2022). To sum up, Amazon has learned a valuable lesson from their ever-changing logo concept design: "less is more."
3) The biggest problems in organizational design, in my opinion, are: 1) identifying the business's core competencies and developing an organization that maximizes their performance while minimizing their dangers 2) Recognizing how the organizational architecture interacts with the environment in terms of recruitment, retention, and exit; product development processes and markets; policy; and investor relations 3) The practical ramifications of change and how to work toward a new organizational design that improves the organization's health. To put it another way, part of organizational design is developing change processes that, in turn, improve the organization's effectiveness (Sharma et al., 2019).
4) For this, I will pick Amazon https://www.amazon.com/ (Links to an external site.) . I have been a customer on Amazon for several years. They are always on time and pleasant. I believe the design criteria for Amazon is to be bright and entertaining for the customers. They always have good deals when you search up the website. They also always give you other examples of different items, if they do not have your in stock or the correct one you want (Sharma et al., 2019). I believe the criteria for Amazon is to reach out to everyone. Most places have a certain market that they reach out to, Amazon reaches out to the young and old (Missimer, & Mesquita, 2022). Their market reaches almost everyone. That is another reason I believe they make so much money. They always have something for everyone and you can have it shipped to your house in a few days to a few hours. Amazon is great when you need something in a hurry too.
