Provide a brief description (about 300 words) that shows how you propose to test the following hypothesis: The degree to which automobile drivers conform to traffic regulations depends on either the gender of the driver or the presence of passengers in the vehicle.
Your response should include an answer to these questions:
• Hypothesis: How can you restate the hypothesis more clearly or improve it? Be sure the predicted relationship between the variables in question is clear.
• Location: Where could you conduct this research project? Describe this location in detail.
• Participants: Who could serve as participants or a source of data? Include a proposed number of participants and their basic demographic information.
• Obstacles: Can you think of any personal, practical, legal, ethical, or other obstacles that might prevent you from completing the project before the end of the term?
Below are two possible methods for collecting data that you may want to consider as you develop your hypothesis and move forward with your research project. Note: These are provided only as suggestions for ways to collect data to test your hypothesis; you are not required to use either approach.
• Suggestion A: Observation of a sufficient number of drivers as they approach a stop sign would provide data sufficient to test this hypothesis.
• Suggestion B: Observation of a sufficient number of drivers as they approach a T-intersection would provide data sufficient to test this hypothesis.
