Computers have revolutionized our everyday lives, making it easier and faster to perform many essential tasks and take over complex tasks. Information can be stored, processed, and retrieved quicker and easier with computers. They are invaluable in helping us to control, create, calculate, investigate, and communicate more effectively. But there are certain drawbacks to using them. For example, in the modern health center, the general practitioner has a computer in their room with a database storing information about the patients, including personal and medical details. There may also be access to additional information on the computer system, such as new types of medication, clinical trials, details of rare conditions, and links to other facilities such as physiotherapy and nursing care. What I like about computers and why they are necessary is that they work fast, accurately, 24 hours a day, five days per week, and 365 days a year, are economical with space, less labor-intensive, and less expensive in the long run. They can also work in unsuitable conditions for humans and are less likely to lose information. We use computers every day for work, for personal use; they are, for the most part, a necessity in our lives. Yet, as much as we need them and need them in our lives, they seem never to be fast enough, or when you need to use one for research, homework, and to do your taxes, that seems to be when they fail you. If I could change anything about them, it would be that we would not need to depend on them as much as we do.

A technology that I use daily to manage the care of patients is the electronic healthcare record (EHR). EHR plays a curial role in improving the safety and efficiencies of the healthcare system (Ghazisaeedi et al., 2014). The EHR plays a pivotal role in communication between healthcare workers. I recall when the majority of patients' charts were paper and handwritten. Legality and access to the record were a constant struggle. Government incentives thought Medicaid and Medicare helped expand the use of EHR (Thurston, 2014). Due to this push to expand, EHR has become an inaccurate aspect of today's healthcare system. The one form of technology essential to my day-to-day work and the management of care of patients is the EHR. It allows for clear communication between the healthcare team and the patient. It also allows the healthcare team to manage the care of patients despite location. Whether I am working from home or the doctor traveling, full access to the patient record is afforded to all the healthcare team.
EHR also helps to lower the cost of healthcare. By having a clear researchable record, we can see what tests have been done and what tests need to be done. Having a clear description of the patient's plan of care and generating clear goals that still need to be implemented is essential to lower the cost of healthcare. Decreasing repeat testing by having a clean record helps lower the cost of healthcare. Improving the communication between EHR would help improve the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of EHR in the future.
EHR also empowers the patient by helping them gain access to their EHR (Ghazisaeedi et al., 2014). Knowledge is power, increasing the patient's access to their record improves their ability to advocate for themselves. It also allows the patient to have a more cohesive portable record to help communication between their healthcare team.

As we go about our daily lives, we are increasingly relying on computer systems to perform many essential tasks and do the more mundane ones. Computing has made it possible to store, process, and retrieve information more efficiently. In addition to helping us control, create, calculate, investigate, and communicate more effectively, they help us solve various problems. Despite their benefits, however, they have some disadvantages. The things that frustrate me about computers are that they can lead to unemployment, sometimes malfunction, are dependent on electricity, and do not always keep confidential information secure. In addition, they are expensive to purchase, install, and maintain. We use computers every day for work, for personal use; they are, for the most part, a necessity in our lives. Yet, as much as we need them and need them in our lives, they seem never to be fast enough, or when you need to use one for research, homework, and to do your taxes, that seems to be when they fail you.
