Once a future advanced practice caregiver starts this practice experience, it is crucial to know that the interaction between the provider and the patient is not like the other. Nurses spend more time with patients than any health care provider in the hospital environment(Keeling, 2015). It is vital to recognize in the position of the nurse practitioner that we have not only the traits of a nurse in general but also the obligation to evaluate, diagnose and provide the proper treatment for the patient, while ensuring the most cost-effective treatment for them (Barnes, 2015). Due to the time spent by nurses with their patients, advanced nurses have the benefits of delivering superior care. The aim of this article is to illustrate how experiences in my entire profession help me achieve my goals and my growth as an advanced practitioner.
My goals and objective
My practical goal is to increase my goals and skills to improve my route to becoming a family nurse practicing student through my 10-week experience. One study showed that personal growth is boosted when positive interactions are present. However, when there is nurse patient conflict. The healing process can be delayed because of stress. My mission during the first five week of the practicum is to increase the confidence which will lead to a successful transition from a nurse to a nurse practitioner. I have high hopes and believe that during the fist half of the practicum the confidence will have increases and I will have the ability to handle and diagnose patients(Poghosyan & Bernhardt, 2018). The long-term goal for this practicum is to make me confidence to discuss diseases process, management and treatment plans with my receptor. With this aim I hope that as an advanced practical infant, when I walk through this next trip and continue to practice rotation, I will attain more trust and knowledge.
Part 2: Individualized Practicum Learning Objectives
Objective 1: At the end of this activity, I will have become confident in using more research throughout my interactions with patients and will offer the latest in the provision and prescription of therapy

Depression screening is another skill I hope to learn with this practice. I hope this evaluation will be done on the patient who will most benefit from the right treatment. I hope to use this ability in conjunction with the improvement of my technological deficiency by recording the facility's depression checking tool. When I achieve this goal and complete this skill, I will turn to my preceptor.
Objective 3: at the end of the practical experience. I hope to improve my skills in the medical system when it comes to dealing with illness and diagnosing. I am confident that my future advanced nursing practice will benefit
Planned Activities: Because this is my first turn, I hope to first see how my prescriber gives treatment. This includes looking at how they evaluate, plan, diagnose and treat.
Since this is my first rotation, I am hoping to observe initially the way my preceptor provides care. This include observing the way they assess, plan, diagnosis and treat. By week 5, if not before week 5, I would be more independent and I expect to be able to evaluate, plan and diagnose myself from learning from my preceptor. My final skill is the laboratory/diagnostic analysis – ordering and/or interpreting. I hope to conduct patient assessment and plan therapy and I should therefore acquire the information and skills needed to carry out this activity. Summary of strengths:
Clinical skills procedures on self-assessment form are an essential practice that nurses or even professional doctors should consider necessary. Unfortunately, most of the required individuals are frequently not interest in self-evaluation. This helps increase self-efficiency, motivation, and effectiveness at the section of specialization. Based on my self-assessment of clinical procedures, I can conclude . Some of the strengths I have acquired at Walden university include strong leadership abilities which is an important skill to add to an nurse practitioner repertoire, this will help me improve patient outcomes and reduce costs. It has also made me improve on communication in a virtual environment, nurse practitioners are known for being compassionate and caring because it helps to make meaningful connections with patients, and communication also improves empathy and patience allowing patients to speak more freely and honestly about their symptoms. Being able to communicate helps me to ask clients questions during their admission and I can recognize the signs and symptoms the patient is having. My clinical practice in obstetrics has helped me identify and able to manage high-risk pregnancies and also take good care of mothers with empathy and have non-judgmental practice.Clinical breast examination is complete independence in that the other hand, mostly confident on supervision, this indicates specialization in the profession rating to be the better remarks. |
Opportunities for growth:
I would like to broaden my knowledge on the fundal height assessment which is normally done to determine if a baby is small for its gestational age this will enable me to offer the reassurance of a baby’s growth to my client. Increasing my knowledge in obtaining vaginal culture and testing for STIs will help identify infections in the female genital tract, also knowing how to perform a pap test among others will help me improve the diagnosis of my patients on this practicum journey. “In schools and colleges, the learning has always been more directed towards academic courses but what about aspects like self-improvement and personal development that play an equally important role in people’s lives.” I have several strengths that will assist me in effectively undertaking clinical procedures on the patients. On the same note, I have some weaknesses which I need to improve on to assist me in caring for patients properly. Some of the opportunities for my growth entail HARK screening, Contraceptive Placement (Long term), IUD Placement and Removal. |

The first objective is to view and be able to properly perform pap and pelvic exams proficiently and independently by May,2022 as these are the examinations I have no exposure to. I view the pap exam as a cornerstone of every gynecological visit as it is an examination that tests for cervical cancer, which is insidious since the symptoms are rarely seen until the later stages, and the fact that every woman is at risk for it. The pelvic exam is more of a “as-needed exam” after the first one but is still important as it checks for an abnormalities. The second objective is to be able to perform and interpret the results of basic microscopy, vaginal cultures, and at least one STI test independently. These examinations are to check for various infections that may be affecting a woman and the infections may lead to long term health ramifications for the woman. These exams also require a level of scientific knowledge that I have managed to acquire in passing which makes the interpretation process interesting. I plan to fulfill this objective at least every other week. My third objective is to be able to recommend proper birth control options. The other goal is to improve my research habits, the objective is to be able to provide correct information all the time I have research assignments and dealing with patients. Transitioning from a nurse student to a professional clinician is dependent on several factors such as physical, psychological, and sociocultural. Therefore, it is judicious to evaluate the student’s competence in nursing before they transition to professional nurses. Subsequently, in this case, some of the possible goals and objectives for this practicum experience are to: To assess my ability to conduct clinical procedures independently To allow me to develop my confidence in performing various clinical procedures within two months. To offer myself an opportunity of incorporating the skills acquired from classroom in real life situations. To create opportunities through which I can learn from experienced clinicians when performing clinical services on patients with various health conditions that require surgical procedures. |

Summary of strengths:
I have acquired a lot of strengths at Walden University which include pregnancy testing, pelvic exam among others. Early prenatal care contributes to optimal health for the woman and her baby (Record& Hanko, 2016). It also helps to detect risks levels and help promote positive health outcomes, I can also comfortably conduct a pelvic exam, and this has helped me gain confidence and has also improved my eye-hand coordination when examining a patient. Without supervision, I can conduct a breast examination on a patient which is an important part of a complete physical examination in a female patient (Nelson, 2016). the ability to perform a thorough and accurate breast exam is an important skill for a medical practitioner since it is the key step to diagnosing several breasts diseases. |

I want to practice my clinical skills and procedures that can be done in the office such as paps test and the objective to this goal will be to successfully perform one procedure at a time without much supervision, the second goal is to enhance communion with other personnel such as other nurses or patients, effective communication provides vital information and a comfortable atmosphere to interact (Indeed Editorial, 2021) this will benefit me during class and when handling my patients it also adds empathy and better understanding when dealing with patients. The other goal is to improve my research habits because knowledge of medical conditions and their diagnoses are necessary for a nurse to provide effective care to their patients, it also encourages medical expertise and a nurse can provide correct information all the time. I would also like to participate in organized learning experiences by attending seminars and educational workshops for clinical proficiency and professionalism. This will help me gain skills to enable me to understand the latest medical procedure updates hence advancing my nursing career. |
