9378In this activity you will be answering the following question:
What international geoscientists have contributed to the advancement of the science of Geology?
You will be working independently to study and create a report on an international geoscientist from the list below. Your project will include a short paper and reference page. You must answer AT LEAST the following questions:
• Where was your geoscientist born, lived and educated? Tell about the geoscientist’s family and influences. What was the region/country like during the geoscientist’s youth? What was happening in the world during their youth (wars, mass migrations, exploration, technical advancements)? What is the culture and any languages spoken there? What were the primary industries or economies there? What kind of wildlife lives there?
• What is the geology of the area during your geoscientist’s formative years?
• In what specialty disciplines of geology did your geoscientist pursue during their lifetime?
• What contributions did your geoscientist make to the science of geology?
• Did your geoscientist receive any awards or recognition?
• Include any photos or images of the geoscientist and his/her work
Paper:
Your paper should be organized and address the questions listed above. The paper should be at least two pages long, double-spaced with 1” margins. You should use Times New Roman, Cambria, or similar font; minimum font size of 10, maximum 11. Citations must be included in the text using CSE-name-year format. You can find instructions for CSE format at ( http://www.wsulibs.wsu.edu/quickguides/cse ). If you choose to include images, they do not count towards the page limit. Your paper will be submitted in the purple “Projects” subsection on your Moodle course page, open that subsection and click on the “Intern. Geoscientist Project Upload” link, which is a Turn-It-In site. Submit your report there. Similarity reports of over 25% will not be accepted!
