Keeping Animals in Cages is Cruel, and Zoos are Just for Human Entertainment
Purpose
For this research study, the following topic was selected: “Keeping Animals in Cages is Cruel,
and Zoos are Just for Human Entertainment.” In this paper, the researcher aims to persuade the
readers against caging and animals and the existence of animal zoos. In this case, the research
will aim to convince the readers that their opinion on the subject or claim on the above subject is
correct. The reader will be convinced at any cost. However, at the same time, the paper aims to
inform people about the cruelty that exists in caging animals. As the reader reads the presented
arguments against animal caging, they get informed as the researcher would have included facts
and figures to support the arguments. Through this new information, the mind of the reader may
be changed, and many may be encouraged to join the crusade against animal caging and the
existence of Zoos.
This topic is of great importance in the modern era as there have been increased cases of animal
caging as more zoos are being constructed for human entertainment. Individuals are even
domesticating wild animals and putting them into cages or in chains to amuse themselves.
Animals cannot speak for themselves, and thus they need advocates to fight for them and inform
the general public of such cruelties. Game parks are better options as they allow these animals to
roam freely, forcing an animal in cages in order to entertain humans is not fair to these animals.
Procedure
In order to compete for this assignment, I will follow a definite plan. I will first start to
familiarize with the assignment and pick the topic that interests me the most. I will do my
research online through available databases such as ScienceDirect, JSTOR, and Scopus among
others. I will then organize my research and create essential points to be discussed. This step
will then be followed by the creation of a thesis statement where I will give my stand on the
above subject. I will then create an outline for the essay, including the points and the sources to
support my arguments. Then I will start writing my research, and once I am done, I will make
edits to both the content and grammar before making any submissions. Moreover, producing a
well-written research paper is not an easy task. For that purpose, I believe two drafts are enough
to ensure that I produce an excellent and high-quality paper with definitive arguments and
evidence to support as well as proper grammar and paper structure.
For this assignment, a cause and effect essay approach was taken where the researcher will look
at the reasons for something and the results of the same. For this paper, the researcher is
attempting to convince people against animal caging and the existence of Zoos. Thus, the causes
and effects approach is more suitable, as it discusses the reasons why caging is bad and how it
harms animals.
Audience
The audience for this research topic is big, and the researcher would aim to capture the attention
of more people to help stop animal caging. However, the researcher would aim for specific
audiences such as animal rights lobby groups and individuals who believe in animal rights. This
essay may be used by such people to convince others to join their cause. The researcher also
aimed to capture the attention of various professionals, including those working in wild animal
management, to control and eliminate caging of animals and allow them to roam freely.
Moreover, I would have wished that this research study be published in the New York Times
magazine because of its large audience. I would wish to reach as many people as possible, and
this platform could be effective in achieving this. Many groups would be fascinated to read this
but of key interest are animal rights activists.
Research Materials
For this study, books, journals, and documentary videos from YouTube will be used as sources.
However, journals and documentary will be the most important as they can provide hard facts
and evidence to support my argument. Only peer reviewed journals will be used as they are more
credible. Furthermore, including video sources, individuals can view filmed pieces of evidence
of animal cruelty and agree with my assertions. Completing the research will not be easy, but
because of my passion for this topic, I believe this will be an interesting experience.
Level of Knowledge
I am an advocate of animal rights, and I have always believed that animals should not be caged. I
have done prior research on the subject and watched numerous documentaries on the same, but
this was just done to increase my understanding of the subject. I wish to expand my knowledge
on the issue of animal caging and the negative impacts it has on these animals so that I can be a
better advocate. Finally, in order to be successful in this project is important to refine research
and writing skills. Research skills will help ensure that one has good arguments that are well
supported by relevant sources. Good writing skills will help convince the readers with good
grammar and paper organization.
