Population
Describe the scope and issues of the selected population. What do you know about the population (e.g., size, diversity, strengths)? Why is this population important? How big is the population? What does the population need help with? What are some of the challenges, issues, or barriers faced by this population?
You should detail the scope of your population/issue by citing statistics detailing your population and why it is important to assist the population. This section:
· sets the stage for your entire memo by laying out for your supervisor why your agency should address the needs of your selected population;
· must be fact based and should contain citations rather than your opinions;
Available Interventions
On the basis of your research, describe at least three interventions that have been used with the population. What research have you found that has been done with the population? What interventions have you found that have been used with the population?
You should detail at least three interventions that have been used to improve an aspect of the population/issue. Depending on your topic, you may have many interventions that can be grouped together in a summary or you may have one or two standard interventions that are used. Here you will describe the interventions. Appropriate descriptions may include whether:
· the intervention is considered evidence-based;
· the intervention has been tested on various demographic groups (children, non-English speakers, etc.);
· what the intervention purports to change in a client population (improve depression, decrease teen pregnancy, etc.)
Evidence for Interventions
For the interventions you described above, indicate how strong—or not so strong—the evidence is regarding their effectiveness with the population. For the interventions you found, briefly discuss the evidence that exists to support its use with this population.
Once you find your 3 interventions, you will be looking at the results section of each one to describe in this section – what is the evidence that they found that shows it to be effective? This section is where you basically look at the results sections of the articles for each intervention and describe the evidence for effectiveness.
Recommendation for Intervention
In light of your assessment of the research findings you located, what is the best intervention for your population? Make sure that you provide a good and persuasive argument based on findings from the studies. Do not use first person.
This section should be brief in relation to the other sections. Keep in mind, a full paragraph is a minimum of 4 sentences.
Single Subject Design
On the basis of research about the intervention you recommend, explain in detail what changes can be expected with clients once the intervention is implemented. How soon would you expect to see them? How would you monitor and evaluate those changes? If you were to use the intervention identified above, what ideas do you have about how you would know the intervention is working? What change(s) would you want to see in a client?
Now that you have selected an intervention, design a single subject evaluation that you can use in your practice to evaluate your intervention. Describe a validated measure that you will use to change the target behavior of your client. Describe data collection and potential limitations of your design.
Ethical and Cultural Competency Concerns
Identify all ethical or cultural competency issues that might be encountered with the recommended intervention for the population. Explain your plan to alleviate or address them.
