The Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society (VECCS) has each year, proudly supported veterinary students through its Emergency and Critical Care Proficiency Scholarship. This year, to further support students who have shown an interest and desire to pursue a career in veterinary emergency and critical care, VECCS will also award a Financial Relief Scholarship. Eligibility Criteria: • Current DVM 2nd and 3rd year student in good academic standing • Must be an active member of the SVECCS, with need for financial support. To be considered for this scholarship, eligible students must self-apply, by submitting an essay which clearly demonstrates how their involvement in SVECCS, is likely to impact their advancement in Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care. Applicants are also encouraged to highlight their participation in related activities, outside of school. Each application must include evidence of financial need, and should be accompanied by a resume. Personal note: I have been working in a veterinary emergency hospital since 2012 at Solano-Napa Pet Emergency Clinic in Fairfield. I started off as a part time relief veterinary technician and moved on to a shift coordinator to supervise the all the staff within the shift. I have also worked at different positions as customer service representative, room nurse, treatment nurse and graveyard nurse. Throughout two years of veterinary school, I have not changed my thought about working in veterinary emergency field and am actively looking for opportunity to be part of a team within an emergency hospital. Two years ago, I began working at a specialty hospital, Sage Veterinary center in Concord, CA that could potentially lead me into specializing in emergency field.
