Environment assessment
The environmental assessment is a companion to the project assessment. Of course, projects exist in a real-world, physical and social environment. That environment will put constraints on the project itself. Those constraints may be due to the physical nature of the project and its environment, or those constraints may be a function of political environmental constraints, such as environmental protection agency rules and regulations, public interest regulations, OSHA, Corps of Engineers regulations, local laws, etc.
When assessing the environment, be sure to include all of the different types of environmental constraints that may affect the project. These types may include such categories of constraints as physical, legal, regulatory, social, public safety, financial, etc. If one looks at the record of many large projects that have been constructed in recent history, one notices the many issues that arise as the result of environmental constraints that have been poorly considered on a particular project; it appears that much of the project team focuses on the technical design issues of the project itself, but often misses the large environmental issues that surround the project, especially those issues that are not technical or physical in nature.
Think carefully about all of the outside interfaces that may cause requirements or constraints on the project. Since these factors are not within your control, they are often the source of risk on a project. That is, you may be expecting a certain outcome from these outside influences, but the actual outcome may differ–hence there’s risk. Identify and describe these outside influences, and discuss risks that may arise from them.
****The nature of this paper is that we are supposed to build it up weekly to get the final risk management plan. I have attached a completed work for your reference.
