Guidelines on how to develop your essay in correlation with your opinions and historical facts:
Opinion
Unlike most paper types, opinion writing doesn’t require objective insight into the subject matter. Having stated your personal opinion on a topic of your choice, you are required to proceed with arguments that explain and justify your position. You will want to rely both on your own views and back them up with quotations and examples from secondary sources.
Opinion Essay Introduction
In the introduction, you should be very clear about the subject of your presentation. Name it with key terms and define your line of argumentation. The reader must be informed about your ideas and attitude toward the topic since the very beginning of your essay. Your topic will, usually, be formulated as question – you should provide an answer to it in the introduction, and elaborate on it in the body essay.
Opinion Essay Body – Paragraphs
In subsequent paragraphs you will elaborate on your arguments; that is, you will provide an argumentative context to the conviction you expressed in the introduction of the paper. Different elements of paragraphs will guide the reader through your fashion of reasoning. Use varied source information in order to validate your points. Draw from multiple disciplines in order to manifest fluency in the subject and make your opinion essay sound authoritative, well-thought, and justified.
Write the objective of the paper in the introduction. What is the main idea of the paper? Read the first chapter. Write two sentences to summarize the first chapter; one to describe the main characters, historical events. What is the main story about? Introduced in the chapter, the setting and any other important details, and the other sentence to describe what happened in the chapter. Write the historical context.
Analysis. For every other chapter, write one to three sentences summarizing the chapter. Be sure to talk about the action and characters. What did they do and why? What happened or developed? What new things did you learn about the characters? How these characters are portrayed through the historical accounts presented by Henderson. Be sure to explain the setting (time, location, etc.).
What makes a book report good and interesting is to include the major story plot by characters' actions, and the meaning the author and you wanted to give. What was the author's message? What is your message? What did you learn from this story? Why did the characters behave the way they did?
