This is my college admissions essay. It′s somewhat long and I′d like it to be shortened to the 550-word count if possible. Also, I do not mind AT ALL if you reorganize things to make sense, subtract, add whatever you need to do to make the readers cry. Please do it. Make the admissions officers cry and share with friends and family. I′ll provide extra info about my work if necessary as well. The underlined text is taken from an excerpt by The Huntington called ″The Newton You Didn′t Know″ Please rephrase so that it′s not plagiarized.
“What can be expected of man since he is a being endowed with strange qualities?” (Dostoevsky 21). Sir Issac Newton is remembered principally for his work on natural philosophy, mathematics, and astronomy. Newton has thus often been portrayed as the incarnation of scientific genius who overturned superstition and ushered in the Age of Reason. So, when it came to light in the early 20th century that Newton was not only a practicing alchemist but also entertained heterodox interpretations of Christian theology, the understanding of Newton as the icon of modern science was thrown into question; although it shouldn’t have been. The scientific community’s questioning implied that they now know enough to judge the nature of being and to do away with the mysteries of life essentially reconstructing the nature of reality. The fruit of the intellectually arrogant is poison to the body.
For quite some time I allowed my limited worldview to be the axiom of my life. Consequently, what I knew was often formed upon a knowledge of what I didn’t truly understand. I become disassociated internally–dreaming things I didn’t act out and I acting out things I didn’t dream. Out came a sickness of the spirit cured only later by a humbling reality.
Growing up I felt like I failed in a lot of areas this feeling carried on throughout high school. I constantly questioned and challenged the structure of schooling. I wanted to do things my own way, I really liked to figure things out and instead of being told what to lear I wanted to pick what I learned. So I dismissed schooling altogether only doing what I needed to skate by. At the end of my high school career, I learned 4 programming languages, worked a remote programming job and felt accomplished despite my low GPA.
My goal was to get involved in the startup scene. My parents pushed me to attend community college, I acquiesced, however, I still pushed to find an alternative route. While at community college full time I entered the workforce continuing to work in different high-level skill positions. UX Designer, Front end dev, digital marketer and anything else I thought would allow me to be marketable to a venture capitalist. A friend of mine showed numerous amounts of evidence that University education was far superior to the one I was on. I became bitter and jealous of these highly talented and educated students receiving millions of dollars of funding. In my arrogance, I felt I had the power to judge to structure of reality. Life just wasn’t fair, the universities have failed me. Why can’t anyone see that Unversity is not the only way to succeed?
My mentor gave me an honest reply. She said “Pursuing higher education is not the only way to succeed, you’re right, however, part of showcasing talent/potential/intelligence is showing that you can apply your inherent traits towards things willfully. You've only shown that you can get enveloped in things you enjoy.”
I quickly became humbled and understood how arrogant I had been. There is no single master strategy–life is varied. In life, you are bound to find inconsistencies, such as pieces of advice that directly contradict each other. You are also guaranteed to read about people who were successful using one strategy and people who were successful using the opposite approach.
This is a plea to forgive my academic rashness. I am fully capable of succeeding in your course work. I am fully prepared to quit my job and be completely immersed in the privilege of such an astute university. I ask that you would give me a second chance, you will not regret it
