Observations and Written Report of Adolescents (ages 13-18 – before high school graduation). Observation can also be conducted at a typical hangout for adolescents (e.g., the food court at Mall, football games, etc.). Do NOT observe immediate family members or friends. The individual must be unknown to you. At least 2-hour observation is required – (may observe as many hours and visits as needed for report). Report should include: 1. General information (date, time of day, location, etc.) 2. Apply (relate) your knowledge of the development theories, constructs, or processes of the observed by addressing EACH of the following areas of development: the physical, cognitive and psychosocial. Use at least 10 terms from the textbook. 3. Reactions, speculations and hypotheses based on your observations and what you read in the book about physical, cognitive and psychosocial development. In other words, what can you take away from the observation? What might you predict for the individual or group of adolescents observed? Technical requirements: 1. Use headings (described below). A minimum of 500 words, typed, and double spaced. 2. Correct spelling, grammar, and good thought development. 4. You must use and reference the textbook in APA format. Also reference any other outside sources in APA format. 5. Report should include these three sections WITH HEADINGS: •General Information: this includes general information about each observation (date, time, level, place, etc.) • Application: apply your knowledge of the development theories, constructs and processes of the different ages for each level observed by addressing each of the following areas of development: cognitive and psychosocial. •Reflections: this should include reactions, speculations and hypotheses based on your observations and what you read in the book.
