Promoting Student Learning and Development Project:

Complete an assignment focused on an exploration of a sub-population of college students that is different from the sub-populations to which you ascribe. To complete the assignment, you can select one of two options:

1) You can complete a paper about your chosen subculture by locating articles written about the subculture. These articles should be from higher education journals and publications such as those listed in this syllabus. You will describe your chosen sub-population as presented in the literature and then analyze your own experiences in light of the portrait presented in the articles. How do the two compare? What does the changing student demographic suggest is necessary to promote and support student learning and development? The paper should be 5 pages in length and completed using APA style in format, citations, and references. Due: Week 5

2) You can complete an academic digital story about your chosen subculture. You will still need to locate articles written about your subculture, but you can get creative in describing your population and your examination of how they are described. You will also analyze your own experiences in university in light of the portrait presented. How do the two compare? What does the changing student demographic suggest is necessary to promote and support student learning and development. The digital story should be 3-4 minutes in length, and will need a credits scene listing your sources in APA format. My subculture is military or Veteran
