Peter and Judas were both part of the inner circle twelve disciples and both experienced sinned against the Lord. In his grief, remorse and shame after betraying Christ, Judas chose to end his life (Matthew 27:1–10). In contrast, after denying Christ three times, Peter chose a path of restoration and renewal (John 21:15-19).

Peter’s life story is a good example of what spiritual resilience looks like. Other biblical examples of spiritual resilience would include the Apostle Paul during the storm and shipwreck (Acts 27) and King David after committing adultery (Psalm 51). According to 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, it is God who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

As a believer, start to consider your greatest trials and tribulations as a deep reservoir of spiritual resilience that you can draw from in helping others in need.
