What are your thoughts on this lack of will to make the necessary changes to solve our most pressing environmental issues?
Of all the environmental challenges discussed this week are there any that truly cannot be solved? If you think about things like climate change and pollution, we know what the solutions are to these problems. We have the knowledge and the technology to solve these problems, but isn’t the real problem the will of the people to enact and accept the necessary changes? Often times resistance to necessary changes are rooted in money, a sense of a loss of freedom, or loss of convenience/comfort. For example, we could generate all of our electricity from solar, but we don’t. Why is that? There are many reasons, most of which are financially driven. Things like the fossil fuel industry strong fighting against this and also individuals unwilling to potentially pay more for their energy.
What are your thoughts on this lack of will to make the necessary changes to solve our most pressing environmental issues?
