RLG 204H5 Kinds of Christian Faith Discussion

A few comments in addition to the guidance that Michelle is providing in tutorials. As stated in the syllabus, the length I'm looking for in your reading responses is 1000-1500 words total for each. No further sources are needed or encouraged: these really are just responses to the readings. As such, you shouldn't be citing my slides or lectures, but by all means use these to help you to understand the readings. Furthermore, as always, I'm more than happy to respond to any particular questions about any part of any reading. Just ask! No bibliography is needed, but I do ask that you provide page numbers for any citations as usual. Once again, the draft must first be sent in before the final version. Also, the change: I've decided to make the second part of the second reading response a little more straightforward by asking you to find contrasts between the kinds of Christian faith discussed by the two authors. Here's the new version of the assignment:

"Christian faith has attracted a following in many different cultural and political settings in the global South. The following questions will help you to analyze this development: i) According to Jenkins, what do Christian churches in the Global South offer their members, and how are they adapting to the cultural settings in which they find themselves? ii) How does de la Torre's "liberative" approach differ from the kind of Christian faith described by Jenkins?"
