Case 1:
John Kamaks a 70-year-old retired factory worker that the Palliative Care home care team and you have been looking after at home for the last two months. John was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer three years ago and has been treated with chemotherapy and radiation. Six months ago, John started to have pain in his chest and back. His oncologist ordered a CT scan and found he had metastases on his spine and liver. John had a meeting with the team at the cancer center and decided not to go ahead with any further cancer treatment. His wife calls you and asks you to make a home visit. John has been having more pain this week and has been spending most of his time on the couch. He cannot get around without assistance and is very fatigued. Even though he has signed a DNR and requests no treatment, his wife wants you to call his oncologist and get a treatment plan started immediately.
