Ethical Dilemma
I'm working on a nursing discussion question and need guidance to help me learn.
Scenarios: The family of your patient does not want you to tell the truth to the patient about his medical diagnosis.
YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO QUESTION 1 AND CREATE A POWER POINT FOR QUESTION ONE AFTER YOU WRITE THE PAPER FOR QUESTION 1.
Components of the presentation include:
- Brief introduction of the ethical dilemma
Group Ethical Paper (25% of grade): Your group will be assigned an ethical dilemma scenario. Your group will write a 5 page paper, excluding title and reference pages, on this scenario following the guidelines below. Peer Evaluation Form submission on due date (worth 1 point towards your individual grade).
Template: Include the following information in your paper:
- Introduction/background that describes the ethical issue
- Why is this an important issue?
- State the purpose of the paper
- 2. Identification of key ethical principles that apply to this situation and why they apply (refer to chapter 7 of your textbook).
Also refer to the ANA Code of Ethics: https://www.nursingworld.org/coe-view-only
3.Identification of legal risks that the nurse must consider to care for a patient in this situation (refer to chapter 6 of your textbook).
4.Identification of interprofessional collaboration that is needed to care for a patient in this situation (refer to chapter 4 and 12 of your textbook). What is interprofessional collaboration? Which professionals will be part of your interprofessional team? What are their roles and why are they important?
- Conclusions: A conclusion is a very important part of the paper. It is an overall synthesis of what you put together in your paper. What is the solution that is most appropriate in this situation? The conclusion informs the reader about the importance of your explanation and your solutions to the problem.
- References and in-text citations are required with APA formatting: There should be a minimum of 3 current academic references for this paper. APA formatting is 10% of the grade.
