1) When Tangerine premiered at Sundance, in the festival’s synopsis of the film they did not include that the main characters are trans and the picture they used for the cover is a still from the movie wherein the two main characters are in silhouette- masking their identities as trans POC. Do you think this was done purposefully? If so, how come?

2) The director chose two people who had no formal training or experience in acting to be his leads in Tangerine. Do you think having more experienced actors would have enhanced the film or do you think it would have taken away from the rawness of the film’s style of storytelling.

3) Explain how the filmmaker’s use of color elevated scenes in the film or the film as a whole. Pinpoint one scene specifically where color was strongly used in your explanation.

4) When a film has a micro-budget, is it important to conceal the lack of a budget in style of the filmmaking to make it appear more like high quality mainstream movies, or is it better to allow the low budget aspect to be part of the “charm” of the film. Why or why not?
