You have two options for your second paper. For both options, your essay should be about 4 pages long, double-spaced, 12 point font. You may either 1) write an expository paper in which you consider the spiritual journey of Augustines life, OR 2) you will write your own spiritual biography and compare it with Augustines journey.
If you chose option 1) you will write about Augustines spiritual journey. Your expository paper should include an overall narration of Augustines journey which will entail reflection upon not only specific moments in his journey but also the overall arc. When addressing Augustines spiritual arc, you must consider three aspects of Augustines life: one moment from Augustines youth (Books I & II), the impact Augustines relationship with Monica had on his spiritual development (Books VI & VII), a reflection on faith and reason in his journey to Christianity (Books VIII & IX). In addition, you need to make at minimum one direct comparison to your own spiritual journey. [As we discussed in class, your spiritual journey does not necessarily have to relate to your religious journey, rather it could be your journey to better understand yourself and your purpose.]
