Do not go significantly over or under the word limit. The word significantly here is a judgment call on my part, but in order to be on the safe side, keep it to no more than 100 words under and over the limit.

Section A Answer one from the following options:
(1) What is the difference between a deductive and an inductive argument?
Describe the properties of validity, soundness, strength, and cogency. Give your own example of a Modus Ponens and a Modus Tollens. Tell me which two fallacies, out of the list I gave you, are the worst of all, and why.
(2) In our discussion of metaethics, we saw that there are objective and subjective claims. What is the difference between the two? Be sure to include your own examples. If indeed ethics is subjective, there are two theories available:
relativism and fictionalism. Describe these in detail.
(3) Pick one of the ethical issues (not theories) we discussed and described in detail the arguments for and against it. The topics include abortion, euthanasia, drugs, and capital punishment.
Section B Answer one from the following options:
(1) What is utilitarianism? What is its formula? What are some objections to it? Is it, in your judgment, a good or bad theory, and why?
(2) What is deontology? What is its formula? What are some objections to it? Is it, in your judgment, a good or bad theory, and why?
(3) Pick one of the ethical issues (not theories) we discussed and described in detail the arguments for and against it. The topics include abortion, euthanasia, drugs, and capital punishment
