COGNITIVE ACTIVITY
You are to locate and develop 1 out of the two (2) cognitive activities – found in Chapter 17 of the course text:
Develop and implement a cognitive activity. The developmentally appropriate cognitive activity should include a home-made game focusing on one of the below mid-level mental abilities. Further information about developing cognitive activities for young children can be found in Chapter 17 of the course text.
Developing a homemade game is highly encouraged. Per homemade games, consider items that can be gleaned or scrounged from the community. Homemade games should be aesthetically pleasing, sturdy, and developmentally appropriate for childrens use.
Be sure to include a photograph of your homemade game or activity chosen at the bottom of your lesson plan.
1. Matching is the ability to perceive sameness and difference Being able to match items that are the same promotes the understanding of mathematical equality. The basic leading questions to ask are Can you find the pair that are the same? and Is it the same or is it different?
2. Grouping is the ability to identify the property that members of a class or group of items have in common.
Formatting: The cognitive activity is to be typed & numbered as seen below using the following layout with 1-inch margins and 12-point font; double-spaced. For maximum points, include the underlined headings and follow content guidelines.
