Personal development II
Task 1.
To fully understand our core values, might not be an easy exercise but it is one worth doing, also to understand their influence in your personality! From the list that I will share with you, you can already reflect on that.
1) Joan and Ahmad go to a University party. Joan’s an extravert and Ahmad’s an introvert. When they arrive to the party, they realise that it is a boring event. There’s no interaction, nor fun and most of the invitees is leaving. Joan goes ahead and and starts chatting with people and introducing them to each other, she raises the music volume and starts an energiser. Ahmad stays quite in a corner, observing the party.
From your perspective, who was more involved in the University party?
Please reflect on the different types of personality in this case and the different values that Joan and Ahmad might have. Do personality types influence the way in which we interact in the world and with each other?
Task 2.
Self-awareness is considered one of the key tools/skills and approaches to be able to udnerstand yourself, others and the world around you. More and more it is also considered essential to gauge personal and professional development and have more insight into how your mind works and your actions unfold.
Please take some time reflect and think about examples of questions that can help/guide you to be more self-aware regarding your:
- values and life goals
- personality
- relationships
Finally, do you think there is a relationship between integrity ("the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles" – Oxford Learners Dictionary) and self-awareness? If yes, why do you think it might be important?
Mandatory approach to the exercise: Critical thinking is expected from the answers. Critical thinking refers to the ability to analyse information objectively and make a reasoned judgment. Critical thinking involves the evaluation of sources such as data, facts, observable phenomenon, and research findings. Good critical thinkers can draw reasonable conclusions from a set of information and discriminate between useful and less useful details to solve a problem or make a decision.
Task 3.
You will develop and draw a SWOT analysis, by reflecting on the exercises on values, integrity, personality and character formation, and mind development carried out through Unit 1 and Unit 2. You will reflect on your Strengths, Weaknesses, and the Opportunities and Threats that you anticipate in your personal development. You can draw it manually, use Word, PPT or mind mapping software, this is up to you.
