Tiny Exhibition
- Read these directions carefully!
- Write ONE 200-300 word essays on the topic below.
- Upload your essay as a document by clicking the title "Unit 2 Essays"
- Essay should reflect that you’ve completed the required assignments and understand the material & concepts covered in class.
- Use the assigned readings & class lectures as the basis for your essays, not web searches.
- Respond in your own words. Do not use direct quotes.
- Any copying/pasting from websites or any other source will result in a zero for the assignment or failure of the course.
- Respond in complete sentences with correct spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc.
- When writing about a work of art/architecture, capitalize the title and refer to it in "quotes", italics, underline as you would the title of a book. (FYI: I use bold for readability in presentations & on Bb).
- Due by the end of the day (11:59pm) on Monday, Nov. 8
- There’s no time limit; you can save and return to complete your work
- *Note: These directions were updated Wed. 11/3. If you already uploaded the original assignment (2 essays), I’ll use the higher grade of the two essays as your score and give you 5 extra credit points for writing both essays. If you haven’t submitted the assignment, but would like a chance to earn the same extra credit, you can submit two essays (following the same directions) instead of one.
- Blackboard can be fussy sometimes, so be sure to back up your work in a file on your computer.
- If your completed essay is not uploaded on Blackboard as a fully readable file by the due date, it will not be graded.
If you have issues uploading the assignment, please contact WKU IT before the due date for assistance.
- Your first job is to curate two (tiny) exhibitions.
- Each of your exhibitions should focus on a theme and include two images (from different cultures or time periods) that reflect that theme. I’ve included a list of suggested themes and images below, but you can use any images that have been covered in class or the reading assignments.
- In addition to selecting images for the exhibition, you also have to write about them! For your tiny exhibitions, write 200-300 words that will explain to museum visitors 1) how those two images relate to the theme; and 2) how their historical, cultural, spiritual, social, or political context is reflected in the images.
- Your choice of images can reflect the theme in a similar way or present contrasting views of a theme.
- Use images from two different cultures or time periods
