Students are asked to choose a theoretical perspective covered this semester, compose a literature review on the theory, and apply the theory to an individual highlighted in the memoir, The Glass Castle or an alternative source provided by the instructor.

This paper should include:
Introduction: A brief statement about the focus and purpose of the paper. The introduction should give the reader a sense of what the paper will address. It should identify the theory being used and the individual from The Glass Castle with whom it will be applied.
Literature Review: The literature review should describe the basic premise of the theory and its underlying assumptions related to the nature of human behavior. The theorys historical context should be explored. How did the theory come about? Who were the major thinkers behind it and what was their sociopolitical context? The literature review should also address the use of the theory in contemporary social work practice as reflected in the scholarly literature. How is the theory utilized in practice today? This section should make use of at least five peer-reviewed academic sources.
Application: This section should discuss the thoughtful application of the theory around an individual highlighted in The Glass Castle. A minimum of three concepts for understanding human behavior through the lens of the selected theory should be identified, defined, and applied.
Critique: This section should include discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the theory as identified in the literature. It should also specifically address the usefulness of the theory in understanding the human behavior highlighted in The Glass Castle or alternative source.
Conclusion: A summary of the findings of the paper. The conclusion should outline final thoughts on the usefulness of the theory chosen for this application, including its general applicability
to social work practice.
