GEOLOGIC TIME TRAVEL

Travel back in geologic time Period of choice from the Phanerozoic Eon (this means to select any of the periods within the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, or Cenozoic Eras – see Geologic Time Scale below. (For example: Cambrian, Ordovician, Triassic, Jurassic, Neogene, Quaternary…). Be creative and write this as a first person account as though you were able to travel back in time and witness this for yourself. Provide a thoughtful narrative (250 word minimum) that includes answers to the questions below:

1. Name the Period you visited, when was it, and how long did it last?
2. What is this Period best known for?
3. Describe the dominant plants and/or animal life during this Period.
4. What was the atmospheric content of carbon dioxide (CO2) at the time, and was it higher or lower than today?
5. Generally, what were the climatic conditions at the time? Was it warmer or colder than today?
6. Was there a mass extinction event associated with the beginning or end of this Period?  Explain.
7. INSERT some sort or image or graphic to annotate your account. Be sure to credit your image.
8. List links to the resources you used to write your travel account.

Alternately, you may create a short video to discuss the time period you selected. Be sure to address the points above. (Extra credit).
