Purpose
This assignment is designed to (1) analyze ethical issues and management dilemmas in various healthcare settings and (2) provide you an opportunity to reflect on these real-life issues and compare your understanding of each situation with your colleagues.
Directions
1. Read the entire case study and its related information in Chapters 13 and in the Epilogue. Each case study is complex. Reflect on the questions in Question 2 below before developing your post.
2. Post an initial entry of 2-3 paragraphs in the Discussion Board in Blackboard to answer the following questions:
a. What are some of the ethical issues and organizational values in this case? Explain. Please do not just make a long list. Instead, choose one or two and reflect on them. Can you relate aspects of this case study to other ethical principles that we have discussed in class?
b. What management mistakes were made in this case?
c. Who are the key stakeholders in this case?
d. Did reading the legal perspective related to this case influence your judgement of what steps should be taken? If so, how? If not, why not?
3. Post replies to at least two colleagues by Nov 10. Do you agree with what they stated, did they notice something you did not, did they give you a new idea, etc.? Each posted comment should be 1-2 paragraphs.
