1.Our Lady of Angels School Fire

Many provisions ofmodel fire and building code were created or improved because of a catastrophicor tragic loss due to fire, explosion, natural disaster, or manufacturingdefect. For your final project, you will choose a large lossfire from the list below and prepare a research paper that identifiesan improvement in the body of knowledge for the fire service or fireprotection industry regarding the overarching concept of Fire Dynamics thatresulted from the incident.

1. Choose anIncident:

1. Our Lady of Angels School Fire

Your researchwill surround this event, so it is essential to choose an event thatinterests you the most.

2. Researchthe Incident: Identifycritical issues and points to support your paper. References should use theinformation addressing the same issues (findings) in the chosen fireincident (e.g., wind-driven fire; egress doors swinging inward, wallcoverings, etc.).

Consider the followingduring your research:

• Fire Dynamics of the incident.
• Common substances involved and how they related to combustion and flame spread.
• The impact of flammable and combustible substances and how they related to combustion and oxidation.
• Any Substances used to ignite and accelerate the fire and how they affected the chemical reaction.
• Did the building’s construction type, floor plan, and size affect the incident?
• Fire growth curve of the incident.
• Laws of energy and matter.

3. Write yourassignment: Your submittedpaper should include a title page, a minimum of 3 pages of content (doublespaced and written in Times New Roman 12 point font), and a reference page. Youshould also include In-text citations following APA guidelines for academicwriting.

Your presentationshall explain the following:

• Introduction with Problem Statement
• Overview of Incident Investigation Report
• Findings
• Recommendations
• Conclusion
