The purpose of this assignment is to help you better understand the different challenges senior executives in the public sector encounter and the tools and resources available for them to assess and mitigate these challenges. For this assignment, you are a federal auditor with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and have been asked to assess policy initiatives at a federal agency. You are to select one federal agency and assess the leadership’s strategic plan for operational visioning. Create a memorandum to brief agency leadership on your findings. Be sure your memo includes the following:

1. Describe the agency’s senior executive leadership expertise.
2. Critique the agency’s mission in comparison with its strategic plan.
3. Interpret the goals within the strategic plan for operational effectiveness.
4. Recommend changes to the plan that might improve operations.

Length:  2-3 pages, not including title and reference pages

References: Include a minimum of 5 scholarly resources.

Performance management is an essential organizational tool that assesses each operational element of the agency to ensure robust practices are in place to meet organizational mission and objectives. The purpose of this assignment is to examine the leadership’s ability to drive improvements in agency performance.

For this assignment, you are the Director for the Performance Management Office at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tasked with evaluating performance for the last 6 months at your agency. You are to examine what senior leadership has done to add to educate the public regarding climate change. Specifically, you are to write a brochure for public release regarding updates on climate change and its potential impact or lack thereof within the next few decades. Your brochure should include the following:

1. Describe the latest climate change EPA policy and what it means for the average American.
2. Evaluate the agency’s approach to educating the public.
3. Critique the agency’s response to the publication of climate science research findings.
4. Determine if the agency’s approach to climate change is sufficient in preparing Americans for the future.
