The Stanford Prison Experiment (1971) aimed to investigate the psychological effects of power using the relationship between prisoners and prison officers (Academy. 2020. pg. 14). In this research study, we see where participants were voluntarily involved in the research. This study independently gave people the roles of officers and prisoners. During the course of this study, prisoners were subjected to unacceptable harm, psychological and physical. In the end, it was determined that their was blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of the participants.
Obviously, the lose of control in the project is the problem. Safety factors were not in place and jeopardized the integrity of the entire project. Everyone involved in overseeing this project and research should at minimum be censored. Pulling funding and a strong reprimand is also warranted. The results should be ingnored and the project defunded. I can also see a basis for criminal charges as well.
