Mode of assessment: Written proposal
Assessment description
Part I: Research Plan (1,000 words, +/- 10%). In the first part of the assignment, students will outline their dissertation project and include a more developed and sophisticated proposal, informed by feedback from your supervisor. Research plans must include: Title, abstract, research question(s), literature relevant to their research topic and related research, methods chosen, data to be gathered, and the approximate timeline and stages of data gathering and analysis. This is a more advanced scoping of the dissertation project than the initial proposal and should reflect further thinking and engagement with the project and the supervisory feedback.
Part II: Critical Reflection: (1,500 words, +/- 10%) In the second part of the assignment students should critically reflect on their research project. This reflection should outline the rationale for the research method or methods chosen for their dissertation project. This part will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the research methods chosen with reference to academic literature, including methodology texts and examples from published research studies where similar methods have been employed, for example. Students should discuss in depth the appropriateness of the methods they have chosen and where possible illustrate why other methods would not be appropriate.

feedback of part1(you just need to have a look)
This is much better but still it would not pass – as I stated to you in my previous feedback and at our meeting – you can not do content analysis of academic books and articles. Analysis of books and articles is for the literature review, which will evaluate previous research on this topic and it will focus on secondary sources. So you need to amend this method. Change the abstract too. Perhaps you mean content analysis of videos, news reports and articles in the magazines that you have mentioned about the cases that you have chosen? If this is the case you need to delete the academic books and articles. You need primary data for your research – primary data is news reports, videos, news articles. Once you have made this correction, the proposal should be OK to pass.
