Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to assess your understanding of quality management
concepts that are applied during project execution. You should complete the reading
and practice activities before attempting this assessment. The reading materials will be
useful in identifying and describing the quality management concepts used for project

Research the philosophies of the leading thinkers behind today’s quality movements
and fill in the matrix blanks with your understanding of each person’s philosophy
dimension. The Project Management Institute’s philosophy dimensions are filled in for
you to provide an example.
Then, based on your understanding of the individual philosophical dimensions, identify
how you would approach quality for a project based on the project management focus
of “conformance to requirements.” For this assignment, use your imagination and
choose one of the following project types: 1. a home- improvement project, 2. a
gardening project, 3. a website creation project, 4. a corporate office move of several
departments of workers from one building to another located in the same city, 5. a
family vacation, 6. a wedding, or 7. another project to be approved by the professor.
Choose a project you are familiar with, as this knowledge will help you in the planning
process.
Your paper should start with which philosopher’s approach best aligns with your
project’s requirements. Outline in your paper how “conformance to requirements” looks
and which philosopher’s approach would help achieve the highest quality results for
your project. Conformance to requirements is key in managing and controlling the
execution of the project as knowing how you will manage to requirements ensures the
project expectations are met.

You will be evaluated on your understanding of the individual philosophies and their
relative application to your project.
Minimum Submission Requirements
This Assessment should be a Microsoft Word document 3 pages long, in addition
to the title and reference pages.
Respond to the questions in a thorough manner, providing specific examples of
concepts, topics, definitions, and other elements asked for in the questions. Your
paper should be highly organized, logical, and focused.
Your paper must be written in Standard English and demonstrate exceptional
content, organization, style, and grammar and mechanics.
Your paper should provide a clearly established and sustained viewpoint and
purpose.
Your writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and
insightful.
A separate page at the end of your research paper should contain a list of
references, in APA format. Use your textbook, the Purdue Global Online Library,
and the internet for research.
Be sure to cite both in-text and reference list citations were appropriate and
reference all sources. Your sources and content should follow proper APA
citation style (It should include a cover sheet, paper is double spaced, in Times
New Roman 12-point font, correct citations, Standard English with no spelling or
punctuation errors, and correct references at the bottom of the last page.).
