Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to assess your ability to conduct information research, use academic sources, and then synthesize the information to explain the laws concerning intelligence cover identities protection. You should use the case to make your points that could be generalized to a larger context.

Description: Prepare an essay about identity protection and cover as you read the National Security Act and any other arguments you research. One question you may want to think about is whether or not the primary responsibility for maintaining or protecting cover rests with the covert operative, the organization employing the operative, the press…Who? Specifically, address the Valerie Plame problem as your example case. Use proper citations for the resources used. Include a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and references. Be sure to adhere to the APA standard. Provide an introduction that starts broad and concludes with a thesis statement that narrows a reader’s focus to the findings that you intend to show. In your thesis statement, indicate your position on the issue (the significance of your assessment derived from the course materials and other information sources; the so what?). Then, within the body of the paper, in subsequent paragraphs, explain your position and provide evidence to support your findings (this should be the longer, substantive part of your paper). Finally, add a conclusion section where you explain the application of the findings to the recruitment process. The conclusion is a summary of the logical reasoning you presented within the paper.
