Assignment: Choose a poem (Choice Below)
Find a media source that is connected to the poem. It may be the poet reading that poem, a YouTube video with some link to the poem, music that has been set to the poem, etc. Or, create your own media presentation of print images, drawing or sound. The idea is to reveal the poem in another medium besides print. (If you choose the creative option, please make sure you get in touch with me to discuss your idea and how to complete the project).
Write up your findings.
Include a Works Cited page for any sources you use.

PART 1: The Poem:
In a paragraph, a thoughtful, well written paragraph, tell me what the poem is, who wrote it, when, and then just a bit about why you chose it (dont say too much here, as you can really dig in and analyze the poem in the following sections). Be sure to include a link to the poem in this section that way I can easily jump to the poem and see the original. This part should be more personal — you can feel free & perhaps should talk more about yourself than the actual poem.
PART 2: The Poem in a Different Medium:
In a paragraph, a thoughtful, well written paragraph, tell me what this different medium is, who created it, when, and then quickly turn your attention to how this different take on the poem enhances your appreciation of the poem, your understanding of it. How does this other medium of the poem work with the original? Be sure to include a link to this other work that way I can easily find it and reference it in conjunction with your writing.
PART 3: Your Analysis of the Poem:
So here we are at the very end of your writing for this semester. At the very least, give me three solid paragraphs, as we have been doing for the exams throughout these past few weeks. Your focus should be to explain the poem as you see it, the meaning of the poem. I would think the easiest way to wrap your mind around this portion would be to focus upon the following: poetry addresses universal themes. What is the theme of your selected poem? As always, use specific lines, words, images from the poem to illustrate your claims. Some possible themes: importance of friendship, the rareness of true love, the beauty of the natural world, injustice in society
