In preparation for this assignment, select a community project that interests you and is related to a developmental stage, need, or issue (e.g. fetal alcohol syndrome family support group, LGBT families, respite for caretakers of patients with Alzheimers disease, formerly incarcerated mens support project, racial or ethnic youth/elder community center, organization for sexually exploited minors). The purpose of the project is to explore the intersections of developmental issues and social justice advocacy, and for you to gain more knowledge and skill in an area that you can use in your current or future work in counseling.

Part I: Human Development Community Application Paper

Prepare a 2,000-2,500-word paper in which you address the following:

• Describe your selected community project of investigation with a review of the literature.

• Explain the importance of your selected community project. Please include support from the literature in your explanation.
• Demonstrate how different developmental theories can be applied to this project (Which theory should be integrated into your community project and why).
• Discuss the relevance of this community project to minority populations.
• Explain how is this community project is addressed by mental health professionals (brief review of most relevant treatment, interventions, counseling strategies supported in the literature).
• Summarize the project including your personal perspectives and thoughts about the future of this topic.

Your paper should be written in APA format and include at least 5 scholarly references.

Part II: Human Development Community Application Presentation

Prepare a 10-15-minute recorded presentation of your Human Development Community Application Paper. The presentation should summarize your project, identify pertinent issues, relevance of problem / topic to minority populations, and the relevance to both community counseling and school counseling.
