Explain the ways you have prepared to read for school in the past. Have you used any particular reading strategies? What would you do if you did not understand something? Would you re-read it?
I don’t really prepare myself when it comes to reading unless it’s something I have to read. When I was in school it was always hard for me when it came to reading. I would start to read and then I would just give up when it came to reading I was slow at reading I would read what I thought was important so I can get the assignment over with and move on. In order for me to understand when I’m reading something I have to re-read it over 7 times to catch on I also have problems pronouncing certain words when it comes to reading.
Review the resources listed above about various reading strategies.
I learned so much reviewing all the different strategies about reading. It was things I read up on that I didn’t even know about things that can help me with my reading . Now knowing what I know about the different strategies of reading I can improve my reading skills.
Identify one strategy that stands out to you, and briefly summarize the strategy.
One of the strategies that stood out to me would have to be the Monitor your comprehension. When it comes to comprehension with my reading that’s one of my problems. It gave me good key points on assessing my comprehension like how to ask myself what’s the main idea and to ask myself questions and then answer my own questions.
Explain why it might be an effective strategy for you and why it might be challenging.
The strategy is effective to me because it will help me become a better and faster reader. It might be challenging to me at first because I’m so use to taking my time and reading word from word. So that I can get a better understanding on what it is I am reading and what I’m reading actually means.
Describe, based on these resources, how you will apply the strategy you chose.
Based on the resources, How I can apply is by using the information with monitoring my comprehension and also using the SQR3. To help me become a more faster reader and a more better reader. And to keep in mind to use the basic concepts to reading and to apply myself more.

In the past, it was difficult for me to grasp the important information of books, paragraphs, or even short stories since I was diagnosed with ADHD. However, throughout the years I’ve developed my own style of of reading strategy. For instance, if I didn’t understand a certain chapter in a book, I would re-read only certain parts of the chapter, make my own understanding of it, and finally move on to the next chapter. From there it gives me a better understanding of what’s going on with the story development, and character development.

The SQ3R strategy is something I haven’t heard of at all. Basically what the strategy in details is to survey the book’ table of contents and each chapter. Write down questions that you might have pertaining to the story, book, or novel. That way it makes the readers mind concentrate on finding the answers for their questions. Then comes the three R
