As you are aware from our our senior leadership team is comprise of the following roles.

- Human Resource Director
As in any organization, relationships amongst all staff and especially senior leadership team members takes care and tending toward working in an effective and efficient manner. From time to time these relationships wax and wane as some members retire or resign, new members come, external and internal forces result in necessary changes and a myriad of other factor all occurring in a fluid, dynamic, and oft time unpredictable manner.
Currently, the emails amongst the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Medical Officer have results in misunderstandings, upsets, and to be honest relational damage that is compromising an otherwise cohesive team. The source of the upset is how individuals, who want to become patients of our health center, are on-boarded. Currently, there are two individuals who manage this process, yet it is highly fragmented by how each of the care delivery sites wants it to happen, confounded further by difference amongst providers regarding seeing patients for the first visit with or without prior medical records. Needless-to-say, the process has frustrated the two individuals who must manage it and henceforth the Chief Operating Officer and the providers as well and henceforth, the Medical Director.
The Medical Director works at the Jefferson Site and the Chief Operating Officer works at the Adams site twenty-two miles apart. The Medical Director and Chief Operating Officer are almost exclusively relying on email as their primary mode of communication since time and distance precludes frequent face to face meetings. The situation is leaning toward there being winners and losers, which is inconsistent with our culture.
There is agreement among most staff that having one effective and efficient process would be the desired solution. Yet mandating this obvious solution as such does little with regard to relationships and culture and, could shift the workplace climate from a winner and losers to one where all feel like losers. Neither of these outcomes are consistent with the culture that our board, staff, and patients have come to experience. We need to find a process that enables our Chief Operating Officer and our Medical Director to arrive at this solution without us having to tell them.
