list all possible criminal charges
You are working the midnight shift as a sworn police officer in the city of Surprise, VA. You are dispatched to a bar fight at the Brews Brothers Bar and Grill. Upon arrival, you see two men and one woman engaged in a knock-down, drag out brawl in the parking lot. You call for backup and exit your patrol car. One man is lying on the ground bleeding profusely and appears to be unconscious. You approach, identify yourself as a police officer, and order them all face down on the blacktop. Backup officers arrive and the two men and one woman are taken into custody for questioning. The man who appeared to be unconscious is taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Upon reviewing the facts of the case, the investigation reveals the following:
The brawl began inside the bar when Joe smashed Carlos over the head with a beer bottle because Carlos grabbed Cindy Sue’s backside and was making lewd remarks. As Carlos fell to the ground (blood flowing from his lacerated forehead), Leroy grabbed a pool stick and “connected” with Joe’s upper back sending him flying through the swinging door and into the parking lot. Cindy Sue quickly exited the bar to assist Joe. A few seconds later Carlos (still bleeding from the forehead) and Leroy quickly followed Cindy Sue outside. Once outside, Carlos bear hugged Cindy Sue and dragged her to his truck camper. Cindy Sue, bit, kicked, gouged, and scratched but Carlos forcefully hauled her inside his camper and blocked the door, threatening her with a knife so that she could not leave. Simultaneously, upon seeing Leroy charging toward him, Joe reached for his “boot knife” and, in the ruckus that followed, sliced Leroy’s left bicep, forearm, and thigh in several places, severing the femoral artery. Joe, hearing Cindy Sue screaming and begging for her life, stormed Carlos’s camper and freed Cindy Sue. Leroy bled to death in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
