Briansson Kaiden has been misbehaving at school. getting into physical altercationswith other kids, including running into other kids and pushing and shoving.Brian tells the school that Kaiden has also been defiant at home, throwingtemper tantrums when Brain or his wife make him clean up his toys, come todinner and get ready for bed. The school recommends that they work with Brainto create a Behavior Plan to help try and improve Kaidens behavior, and theyhave emailed him some information to review, including a document he can use asa guide. After reading the email. Brain begins to reflect on Kaidens recentbehavior at home ..Kaiden is generally an active, creative child who lovesplaying with his action figures, building blocks, and video games. Kaidenenjoys playing with others, but he definitely tries to dictate the course of play.When he doesnt get his way, Kaiden often whines or argues, and can come upwith all kids of reasons for why he should get his way. Interestingly, asactive and spirited as Kaiden is, he does not like surprises, and he can beeasily frightened by sudden loud noises. Mealtime has always been a strugglewith Kaiden, and he remains a very picky eater. Brian recalled that Kaiden hasbeen talking back more frequently and has been very defiant when asked to dohis homework, come to dinner clean up toys, or get ready for bed. When Kaidengets frustrated with his younger sister, he will hit her, and he has begunhitting Brain out of anger as well. The other day, Kaiden hit his youngersister while Brain was driving them home from seeing a movie. Brian informedKaiden that his new action figure would therefore be taken away when they gothome until he started being nicer to his sister .Kaiden grew enraged , beganthrowing things in the car , and hitting Brian until Brian had to pull over togently restrain him .One evening last week , when Brain prompted him to cleanup his toys and get ready for bed , Kaiden repeatedly refused , arguing at lengththat it was not fair that he be asked to clean up his toys , and that he wasbeing treated like a slave . The more he argued, the more upset Kaiden became,and the louder he yelled, until he eventually complained that his head hurt,and he ran and jumped onto his bed. sobbing. Not knowing what to do .
