media has effected social interaction with negatively and positively. Some people can just use social media for opinion based facts, and to tell them what to do and think. For example a few years ago there was a group that thought the earth was flat, but no matter how many scientist told them that the earth was round the refused to believe it. For me I had to give up my social media to remember what it was like to have a thought of my own and its truly comforting to feel human again. In contrast media has been able to start buisnesses and help spread a good feeling throughout the community.
Recently i’ve been hearing a lot of people saying how the covid-19 vaccine doesn’t work and its a scam to put chips in our bodies. I saw this on tic-tok earlier this week and chose to watch a few videos on there page. They had some good opinions but nothing was solid and people were asking for the sources in the comments. I really would like to find that page again so that I can share the comments with the class.
Thank You Jordan

Social construction of reality is the idea that specific realities are formed by group consensus and habits based on ones social surroundings. The simplest way to describe it, is things are they way they are because we make them that way. If there is no scientific backing to these social constructions explaining why they are, then it is because humans make it the reality based off of what is considered our norms and based off what those before us have done. A good example of social construction of reality is the different beliefs people have on what happens to us after we die. This belief is formed based on our upbringings, our families, our religions, what region of the world we live in, and so on. There is no scientific backing that can truly be proven about what happens to humans after death, but there are many different social constructions of reality which vary from person to person with beliefs of what happens to us after death.
As far as our social interactions based on our role performance in our every day lives, I do believe that people adjust the presentation of the self to affect the opinion of others. I believe we do this whether we mean to or not, with basically every interaction that we have with other people. I think once we have an interaction with someone, we take our knowledge of that individual, how we feel about them and how we think they feel about us, and act accordingly towards that thought for our future interactions. We are who we are as individuals, but we act differently at work in front of our bosses or in front of our peers, then we do at home in front of our spouses. I feel this also has to do with what is expected from different interactions also. My role as a mother requires different needs and outcomes than my role as a member of the military, therefore these two roles require me to act differently, in which I do so accordingly. Thanks for taking the time to read my discussion post!
