As you should be well aware of, this past year there have been a series of race related incidents and responses. While this is a gender class, much of what we discuss and learn about in this class does not stop with gender. As many of you have pointed out in group discussion and individual reflections, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic standing, race and much more come together to form an individual’s identity. 

The purpose of this class is not to tell you how to think or feel with regard to any situation. There is no one right answer with regard to gender, race, or class. Rather, I hope that you learn that there are viewpoints that differ from yours, you form opinions on gender-related topics that are rooted in intelligent thought, and you learn how to communicate effectively regarding those topics. 

With that in mind, I would like an individual reflection related to the concept of race and gender. This is your chance to reflect on the current US racial tension within the confines of our class material. Should you use any sources, including the ones below, please include references in APA formatting. Consider reflecting on if and how your gender interacts with race, class, ethnicity, (dis)ability, etc. Does this concept resonate with your personal life, why or why not? Does it change your views, beliefs, or actions at all?
