Forensic methodology paper
This week you will submit your draft of your Forensic Methodology Paper(attached). This is where we begin to tie together all we have learned during the course. Your paper will be based on the corporate espionage/data leakage scenario introduced during the Week 1 Discussion(attached). Use the scenario as a framework to develop a forensic methodology for how you would approach this investigation from start to finish. Keep in mind the various common phases found in many of the existing digital forensic models youve learned about, as well as other key concepts like chain of custody, comparative analysis, validation/verification, and important artifacts associated with a Windows operating system.
In last week’s annotated outline for your paper, you started to lay out your proposed methodology and research. Now, build on that work by further considering the different phases that your methodology should incorporate, providing additional research support for the why and how of your proposed methodology, and demonstrate how your methodology would or should be applied to an investigation (based on the details in the course scenario).
Your paper should not include technical findings pertaining to the investigation. Rather, this is a high-level approach that can be used to train new forensic practitioners in your organization on how to forensically examine a case of this nature.
